If I Can't Dance
for the listen to live here workshop series, exploring experiments in sociality making across neuroqueering approaches, comes to its final session of the season. For this gathering, we move with the archive.
Rather than approaching traces of past events as repositories of what has been, we will explore how traces from previous sessions can continue to generate encounters and set new events into motion. We approach the archive as a site of ongoing world-making, where traces are not representations of a finished past but continue to invite new relations, gestures, and ways of being together.
Together, we will encounter materials from across the workshop series and experiment with techniques of spacingmaking, movement, sound-making, and storytelling. Through prompts for doing and improvising together, these materials become occasions for making connections and composing collectivity.
The session takes place within Yasmine Eid-Sabbagh’s installation, developed as part of Frictional Conversations. The session is indebted to, and learns from, the methodologies that inform Yasmine’s artistic practice and her approach to the archive as a living, relational practice.
We will conclude by sharing a light dinner, in-formed by practices around food and eating that have emerged throughout the workshop series.
Participating in this session requires no prior experience or previous participation.
